PASTORAL MESSAGE
Human beings are incurably religious and incredibly creative in attempting to fill the spiritual hole in the human heart. Almost any object, idea, habit or person, can attain the status of deity in our lives. They become surrogate religions and demand religious allegiance from its followers. Good things are made into god-things. God must be good; but all that is good is not God.
God's Message to you this Week His purpose in all of this was that the nations should seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him - though he is not far from any one of us. Only God is truly good. Almost any thing or cause could evoke surrogate religious commitment and perform surrogate religious functions. Look around your house, your life, your world.
